Car Games
Traveling by car can be a fun experience for the family, but adults must prepare for when boredom strikes the back seat. When the road becomes too much for your little ones, try initiating one of these classic travel games.
Car Counting Each player must choose a colour. Every time the player sees a car in their chosen colour, they score one point. If a semi-trailer is spotted (in any colour), the player loses one point. Each emergency vehicle (police, fire, ambulance), regardless of the color, is worth five points. Whoever reaches 20 points first wins. To make the game more fast-paced, find new ways to score points, such as billboards and restaurants. Alphabet Game Beginning with A, players must find a word on a sign that starts with each letter of the alphabet. The players must go in order of the alphabet (no skipping around). The first player to reach Z wins. Because some of the letters can be difficult to spot (such as X, Y and Z), find substitutions for hard-to-find letters. For instance, a Mazda can substitute for a Z (since it contains Z). Make sure all the players are aware of such exceptions so no player has an advantage. Licence Plate Game The last game requires the players look at the license plate on the vehicle ahead and create a sentence using the letters on the plate. For instance, MLA 746 could be "Mum Looks Amazing." The winner can be the whoever forms the best sentence.
